Cedenco have played an important role in forming Waiu Dairy. Going back to 2015 there was a determination of the local Iwi (people) to take more control over their future and with an existing number of Iwi held farms in the area, land holdings and renewable energy resources within it’s control it was decided to commit to building a processing facility. Cedenco were there from the beginning and bought their strong agricultural growing and processing skills as well as decades of international trading skills to the enterprise. Waiu has strong roots in the history of the land, local people, plentiful natural resources and the pristine environment. Sustainability and the natural surroundings will play a critical part in Waiu’s success. Cows graze in the fields all year round, milk is chilled on farm before transfer to the plant for processing all within the same day. The plant has been designed to ensure products are made with the minimum of processing, so they are the most natural and safe ingredients possible. Finished products are transported 90km to the local port for delivery to discerning customers worldwide.
